Helping parents bring kids up God's way
pickleball/basketball court in the making |
Remember the 1989 baseball classic "Field of Dreams?" Well, under the trees at the farm, my superman is building his field of dreams: a pickleball/basketball court.
Ten years ago, I was challenged to seek God's dreams for me rather than take my dreams to God. It started a journey I'd never dreamed of: writing children's books.
Beloved, I challenge you to seek the Lord with all your heart — ask Him to show you His dreams for you.
"For we are God's masterpiece. He created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago." (Ephesians 2:10)
"Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass!" (1 Thessalonians 5:24)

Beloved, may our God who brought Jesus back from the dead supply you with everything you need today to do His bidding. Service available at: www.churchofthehighlands.com |

Jesus said, "Whoever can be trusted with the very little can also be trusted with much . . . " (Luke 16:10)
Day #9 of 21 Days of Prayer, I asked the Lord for the much —the lost to be saved, the sick to be healed, broken marriages to be restored and rebuilt, America to return to God. I also asked Him for the little —to show me where in the world is the missing Professor Sparrow in next year's book.
Beloved, we can trust Jesus in all thing. Bring all your cares to Him — the large and the small.
My Rebecca and my grandboy 2016 |
This potato-sack race snapshot is one of my favorites. The grandboy was bound and determined to reach the finish line — his mom.
Determination is the strong will or resolve to persevere toward a difficult goal despite challenging obstacles. In the Old Testament books of Ezra and Nehemiah, we read of God's people rebuilding Jerusalem despite hardships and strong opposition. In the story, a prophet named Ezra determined in his heart to study, obey, and teach the Law of the LORD to his determined people.
Beloved, I pray that the hand of God will strongly be upon us as we determine in our hearts to know, obey, and share God's Word with others.

"How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog — it's here a little while, then it's gone." (James 4:14)
When I was a kid in the 60s, a television soap opera opened with: "Like sands through an hourglass, so are the days of our lives." My dear friend, Tammy, and I have a hit list — names of 40+ souls we're asking Jesus to save. Time ran out for two of them this week.
"For everything there is a season . . . a time to be born and a time to die . . . a time to be quiet and a time to speak" (Ecclesiastes 3:1,2,7). Today, beloved, is the time to tell others about Jesus; tomorrow may be too late.

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man." (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
In this age of left-wing-right-wing tug-of-war, God told us what to do over 2,500 years ago:
"Be strong and very brave. Be careful to obey all the [laws of God]. Do not deviate from them to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do." (Joshua 1:7)
Confused, beloved? "Study the Bible, God's Book of Instruction, continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do." (Joshua 1:8)
