"People do the planning, but the end result is from the LORD." (Proverbs 16:1)

Playing games is a highlight of Glassco family get-togethers, and "Empires" is at the tip-top of the list of favorites. In that game, a question is asked, such as: "Which animal would you pick to ride on a carousel?" Every player records their answers, and then the fun begins - building the largest empire of captured opponents by guessing their answers.

One of the "Empires" questions at the beach during tropical storm Cindy was: "What title would you give Memaw's new Christmas book?" And after months and months of tossing titles to and fro, the final answer by family consensus is:

A Willowkins Christmas Story

And the point of this post is? Enjoy your family, beloved. Times passes oh so quickly!

Snippet from A Willowkins Christmas Story:

“This story’s really sad, Mamaw,” said Amanda Willowkins, baby Lee’s mommy.

“Yes, dear, it is sad, but it has a joyful ending. You’ll see. Sadness can be God’s pathway to happiness, you know, when people maintain the faith and courage to trust and follow Him,” said Mrs. Willowkins. “Well, as it turned out, Orpah said a tearful goodbye, but Ruth refused to leave her mother-in-law. ‘Wherever you go, I will go,’ she vowed. ‘Wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people and your God will be my God. And that’s my final answer!’ So over hill, over dale, the widows hit the dusty trail.”

Ben Willowkins leaned over and whispered to Dan, “I don’t think that part’s in the Bible.”

Dan snickered. “Yeah, that’s a World War I Army Caisson Song.”
