"hard evidence of the thief in the night"
"For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. So encourage each other with these words.
Now concerning how and when all this will happen, dear brothers and sisters, we don't really need to write you. For you know quite well that the day of the Lord's return will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night. When people are saying 'Everything is peaceful and secure,' then disaster will fall on them as suddenly as a pregnant woman's labor pains begin. And there is no escape.
But you aren't in the dark about these things, dear brothers and sisters, and you won't be surprised when the day of the Lord comes like a thief." (1 Thess. 4:16-5:4)
Moonlight on the breast of the river below
Danced over the current, a warm and soft glow.
Twas a night at the cabin, and in the small house
A creature was stirring - a little, brown mouse.
Away to the kitchen, he flew like a flash,
Tore open the cookies, then ran in a dash.
A double-stuffed oreo held tight in his jaws,
He scurried away on tiny, pink paws.
Then in the toy cottage, he nibbled a bite.
Mr. Mousy, you rascal, you thief in the night!
~
And one starry night, no crib for a bed,
The little, Lord Jesus lay down His sweet head.
Immanuel, He came to save Gentiles and Jews.
Encourage each other and tell this Good News.
For some moment in time, no human can know,
An angel will shout and a trumpet will blow.
He'll return unexpected, like a thief in the night
And away His will fly, lost from earth's sight.
All of God's children will meet in the air
Lord Jesus, our Savior, our sins He did bear.
But those who don't know Him, will stay back behind
With hearts that are empty and minds that are blind.
So, encourage others with the Good News:
Jesus, He came to save Gentiles and Jews.
