Grandkids on the day of Auburn's National Football Championship, 2010 |
"HOPE deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life." (Prov. 13:12)
Story of HOPE:
Yes, I admit that we Americans are football fanatics. And in my home state of Alabama, the rivalry between the University of Alabama and Auburn University, i.e. the Iron Bowl, is one of the biggest tug-of-war competitions in the nation.
Last Saturday, in the very last moment of this year's tie game, Alabama attempted a field goal for the win. But instead of sailing through the uprights, that pigskin fell into the arms of Auburn's Chris Davis who ran 109 yards for a touchdown. Game over. Auburn had won. In one, quick second, the blink of an eye, the destiny of two teams changed.
Atop Mt. Calvary over two thousand years ago, the Lord Jesus Christ hung on a cross between two thieves. In the final moment of one thief's life on earth, he cried, "Jesus! Remember me when You come into Your kingdom!" Jesus promised, "Truly I say to you, today, you shall be with Me in Paradise" (Luke 23:41-42)! In one, quick second, the blink of an eye, the destiny of that hell-bent thief changed to heaven forever!
O Father, I pray for any of my readers who stand today destined by their own sins to hell's Lake of Fire! I pray they will cry out to Jesus, and You will change their eternal destiny to heaven in Jesus' name! Amen and amen!
"But if we HOPE for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently." (Rom. 8:25)
