"If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand." (Mark 3:25)
Before his election as the 16th president of the United States, Senator Abraham Lincoln of Illinois said:
"A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure permanently half slave and half free. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved. I do not expect it to fall, but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing or all the other."
One-hundred-and-sixty-plus years later, America finds herself, once again, a land of great, political divide. What is our responsibility as followers of Jesus Christ and citizens of the USA? We must pray, vote, and be kind—treating others, regardless of their political views, the way we want to be treated.
Got it, beloved? Pray. Vote. Be Kind.
"In view of all this, make every effort to... supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." (2 Peter 1:5-8)
