"As you know, you Philippians were the only ones who gave me financial help when I first brought you the Good News and then traveled on from Macedonia. No other church did this. Even when I was in Thessalonica you sent help more than once." (Phil. 4:15-16)

A common prayer in our family is: "Lord, please bless us with more than we need to be a blessing to others." At Christmastime, my superman, Mr. Generosity, gave the older grands "money on mission" and encouraged them to find someone to help. They did! Those sweet young 'uns bought formula and diapers for friends fostering a newborn and a three-year-old.

In his letter to the Philippians, Paul reported that God had supplied his needs through the generosity of the Philippian church. He in turn encouraged them, "And this same God who takes care of me will supply your needs from His glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. Now all glory to God our Father forever and ever! Amen!"
