A Tree by Living Water

Sunset over Chancellor Ferry Fishing Pond |
He will be like a tree firmly planted
by streams of water, which yield its fruit in its season and its leaf does not
wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers.” (Psalm 1:3)
When my children were teenagers, I
often prayed Psalm 1 over their lives. I asked the Lord to please bless them
and to help them not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path
of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scoffers. I asked God to plant them by the living water of His Word, as a tree by the riverbank that bears fruit and prospers.
Pray
for your children, today!
Oh, the joys of those who do not follow
My children, 1985 |
the advice of the wicked,
or stand around with sinners,
or join in with mockers.
But they delight in the law of the Lord,
meditating on it day and night.
They are like trees planted along the riverbanks,
bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do.
But not the wicked!
They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind.
They will be condemned at the time of judgment.
Sinners will have no place among the godly.
For the Lord watches over the path of the godly,
but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.
(Psalm 1, NLT)
