Springtime at Chancellor Ferry Crossing |
“He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul…”
(Psalm 23:2-3)
Some days, gloominess builds in the atmosphere of
my soul and covers my mind and heart like a thick, grey cloud on a cold, drab
winter’s day. Times of refreshing, however, come in the presence of the Lord
(Acts 3:19). When I talk to Jesus
through prayer and listen to His voice through the Bible, then...
joy sprouts,
hope buds,
faith blossoms,
and strength grows
like wild flowers in a green meadow on a bright, sunny, spring day. God rejuvenates my soul.
“He gives strength to the
weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power…Yet those who hope in the
Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they
will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.” (Isa.
40:29,31)
February
soon ended, and that South Alabama March tiptoed in more like a lamb instead of
the proverbial roaring lion. Yellow crocuses poked their heads above ground,
announcing the coming of springtime, and the red bud trees, waking from another
winter’s nap, opened their lavender eyes. Sprouting leaves on the hardwood
branches gave a fresh, green welcome to the landscape stirring from
hibernation. 1
