When You Don't Know What to Do

“We do not know what to do, but our
eyes are on you.” (2 Chron. 20:12 NIV)
Ever been
there: the nobody-knows-the-troubles-I’ve-seen, I-don’t-know-what-to-do place
in a relationship, a debt, a job (or jobless), a mistake, a bad decision, or a just plain caught red-handed in an outright, premeditated sin? In those times,
we can wave the white flag, give up, cave in, hide out, or fall down. Or, like King Jehoshaphat, we can... look up.
In the book of 2 Chronicles in the Holy Bible, we find Jehoshaphat facing his worst nightmare: not one, not two, but three bloodthirsty
armies marching toward Judea to make war. Although he was afraid, the king put his eyes on God and turned his
attention to seek the Lord.
Oh beloved,
storm-tossed and not comforted, in your dilemma fix your eyes on Jesus (Heb.
12:1). Because God is the One who knows the plans He has for you to give you a future and a hope (Jer. 29:11), keep on asking, keep on seeking, and keep on knocking on heaven’s throne of grace (Matt. 7:7).
"The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you can endure." (1 Cor. 10:13 NLT)
