My (earthly) father, 1958 |
“Don’t act thoughtlessly, but try to
find out and do whatever the Lord wants you to.” (Eph. 5:17 Life Application
Bible for Students)
Do you
remember the W.W.J.D. (What would Jesus do) bracelets that were so popular several
years ago? I thought of a new saying that would revolutionize and totally
transform our world if obeyed: D.W.J.S.D. (Do what Jesus said do!).
When your
husband acts unloving: D.W.J.S.D. (“be submissive to your own husbands so that
even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word
by the behavior of their wives…pure and respectful behavior.” 1 Peter 3:1-2)
When your
wife is disrespectful: D.W.J.S.D. (“husbands, love your wives, just as Christ
loved the church and gave Himself up for her” Eph. 5:25).
When someone
tells a lie about you: D.W.J.S.D. (“be kind to one another, tender-hearted,
forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you” Eph. 4:32).
When you'd like to wring your children's sweet little necks: D.W.J.S.D. (do not provoke your children to anger, but bring
them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” Eph. 6:4).
Get the
point?
Father God knows
best, and His ways work! So, today, when something happens or someone does something that makes us feel
hurt, disappointed, frustrated, judgmental, critical, sad, or mad as a hornet, let’s
D.W.J.S.D! Let's find out and do what Jesus said do! It could change our lives! It could change our families! It could change the world!
