"...Keep searching, and you will find..." (Matt. 7:7 HCS)
As artist Donny Finley works on
paintings to be used as illustrations for my new storybook, he sometimes asks
for photos of subject matter. A few weeks ago, he needed pictures of a tool shed. So I enlisted my daughter and grandchildren
in the tool-shed-scavenger hunt. They found this shed:
I think it’s a perfect fit! What do you think?
The old
tool shed sat about fifty yards away from the apple orchard. They found the
shed unlocked, and Martin opened the door. The two friends peered inside. A
wave of memories swept over Rachel and Martin as they looked at the rakes,
hoes, and shovels hanging in a straight row along the back wall like soldiers
on the front battle line. Except for cobwebs and a musty smell, nothing had
changed. The Colonel’s workbench in the back corner sat well ordered with every
nail, hammer, and screwdriver in its place, and his frayed straw hat and work
gloves still hung on two rusty hooks by the door.1
