Crossing the Finish Line

My girl and grandgirl (and illustrator) "Finishing is better than starting. Patience is better than pride." (Eccleciastes 7:8) |
I'm speeding toward the finish line on the new children's book, Sea Billows. Yesterday, I finished editing the illustrations by my soon-to-be-11-year-old grandgirl.
Tomorrow, I'll do the last run through the manuscript, and Friday, it's off to the Deep Sea Publishing.
What have you started, beloved, that needs finishing?
"Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today." ~ Benjamin Franklin
Sneak-peek into Sea Billows:
Days later,
a cherry-red sun dropped under the western horizon. Egg-laden Marina swam the
final lane of her land-bound journey and reached the water’s edge in darkness. Her
graceful sea waltz slowed to an awkward crawl up the shore and past the
high-tide line. The loggerhead probed the sand with her snout and then lifted
her head and surveyed the beachscape. With alternating flipper motions, she dragged
her pale-yellow underbelly or plastron toward her destiny. The sea turtle
paused to rest; then resumed the laborious trek.
She
bulldozed NORTH.
REST.
Plowed
WEST.
REST.
Pushed
NORTH.
CLANG!
At the sea oat line, Marina’s
iron will hit home, and the mother turtle began preparing the body pit to lay
her eggs.
