Adventures of Faith

ADVENTURE:
Webster’s
dictionary defines “adventure” as an undertaking involving danger and unknown
risks.
Although I’m not in any danger, the financial
risks and passel of unknowns surrounding my work on three storybooks is truly an
adventure of faith for me. In the Bible, Hebrews chapter 11 is known as “God’s Faith
Hall of Fame”. Here an unidentified author testifies of numerous heroes of
faith who risked their very lives for the cause of Christ.
By faith…Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah,
David, Samuel, and the prophets conquered kingdoms, performed acts of
righteousness, shut the mouths of lions, quenched fire, escaped the edge of the
sword, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight!
Yet others, in their faith, were
tortured, mocked, scourged, chained, imprisoned, stoned, and even sawn in two:
men of whom the world was not worthy!
THEREFORE, since we, the modern-day potential heroes for Christ, have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us,
let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles
us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes
on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith! (Heb. 12:1-2)
