Living to Honor God

“Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things and because of Your will they existed, and were created.” (Rev. 4:11 NASB)

A delightful young lady from a far eastern corner of the globe recently visited our city. I prayed that, while here, she would hear the Good News of forgiveness of sins and eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ and see God’s life-changing power in the lives of those who call ourselves Christians.

I wonder what she concluded from the people she saw and heard during her visit to our land? In our beloved city, state, and country, the destructive effects of the world and powers of darkness break my heart, let alone, God’s. 

The prophet Daniel once cried out:

“Alas, O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and lovingkindness for those who love Him and keep His commandments, we have sinned, committed iniquity, acted wickedly and rebelled, even turning aside from Your commandments and ordinances…Righteousness belongs to You, O Lord, but to us open shame…O my God, incline Your ear and heart! Open Your eyes and see our desolations…we are not presenting our supplications before You on account of any merits of our own, but on account of Your great compassion. O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and take action! For Your own sake, O my God, do not delay, because…Your people are called by You name (Daniel 9:4-19).”

       God, in His Grace and Mercy, says, “If…My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land (2 Chron. 7:13-14).”

       Our land can be healed, one life at a time. Today, I want to strive to live life honoring God. How about you? (We never know who’s watching and listening!)
