"Liberty Chapel" by Donny Finley |
“Now
to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think,
according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory…forever and
ever. Amen!” (Eph. 3:20)
Since the story of The Schoolhouse took place in the
mountains of Tennessee, I chose a talented, young artist from Gatlinburg, TN to
do the illustrations. My second storybook, Secrets
of Shiloh, is set in south Alabama. So, when I began searching for an Alabama
artist, I asked the Lord to please lead me to an exceedingly, abundant above
all I could ask, think, or even imagine artist. God said, “Yes!”, led me to
Donny Finley, and totally blew me away!
This
award winning artist has illustrated for Max Lucado, Elizabeth George, and even
served as a replacement artist for Thomas Kincade.“Finley’s painting Fall
Rainbow, which was exhibited at the inaugural National Academy of Arts for the
Parks exhibition, was one of five paintings selected by the academy to be
reproduced in print that year to help raise money for the National Parks. Generations,
an Easter egg painted by Finley, was exhibited at the White House during one of
the annual Easter Egg Rolls and is in the permanent collection of the White
House Visitors Center. Three of his paintings hung in the American Embassy
in Morocco during the tenure of Ambassador Margaret Tutwiler. In 2006, he
was commissioned by Ryder Cup captain Tom Lehman to create a painting for the
American Ryder Cup team.”1

Finley’s magnificent paintings may be viewed at www.donnyfinley.com.
What
task has the Lord Jesus set before you? Ask Him to supply your needs and order your steps. For God
is able to make ALL grace abound to you, so that ALWAYS having ALL sufficiency
in EVERYTHING, you may have an abundance for EVERY good deed (2 Cor. 9:8)!
