Is 'em Here Yet?

My Rebecca and Ben, summer of 1985
Smoky Mountain vacation

"Bless the Lord, you His angels, mighty in strength, who perform His word, obeying the voice of His word! Bless the Lord, all you His hosts, you His servants who do His will." (Psalm 103:20-21)

One of the many mistakes I made as a young parent was giving my preschoolers instructions about the home smoke detector right before bedtime. WRONG!
Rebecca immediately began to cry - fearful that the house would catch on fire that very night. In an attempt to console her, I closed my eyes and prayed, "Lord Jesus, please send Your angels to guard our home and keep us safe. Amen."
When I opened my eyes, little Ben's eyes were now as big as saucers. He lay perfectly still, not moving a muscle. Finally he whispered, "Is 'em here yet?"

Do you believe in angels? The Bible says they're so -

"The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him and rescues them." (Psalm 34:7)

"For the Lord will give His angels charge over you, to guard you in all your ways." (Psalm 91:11)

"Are (angels) not all ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?" (Heb. 1:14)

"Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it." (Heb. 13:2)

NEVER, EVER worship angels, but ALWAYS, FOREVER worship Almighty God who created them to help take care of us!
