Empty Chair and a Broken Heart

grandboys walking with granddaddy and memaw

"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in truth." (3 John 1:4)

The story played out across the aisle.

A grimaced face divulged his, "I don't wanna be here."

The mom slipped a loving arm around slumped shoulders and whispered something in the young man's ear.

He shook his head and then abruptly left the sanctuary before the Christmas Eve service even started.

"Oh, Lord," I silently prayed, "Please bring him back."

Christmas carols began.

A brokenhearted mom texted frantically beside an empty chair.

He didn't come.

End of story?

No.

"... For God showed how much He loved us by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him." (1 John 4:9)

And "the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost." (Luke 19:10)

"Jesus told His disciples...that they should always pray and never give up." (Luke 18:1)

"What is impossible for people is possible with God." (Luke 18:27)

Have a loved one far from Truth, beloved? Never give up, and pray to Jesus, the One who came to seek and save those who are lost!
