My Dan and his favorite hat at 18 months |
When I was a little girl in Fort Payne, Alabama, I was one of the students chosen from Forest Avenue Elementary School to ride in the Christmas parade. Decked in red and white, candy-stripped flannel gowns with matching night caps pulled snuggly over our ears, we rode in a magically transformed hay wagon from one end of Gault Avenue to the other sweetly singing “Twas the Night before Christmas”.
I’ve worn many hats over the years: the
hat of daughter, sister, granddaughter, girl scout, friend, Christian, girlfriend,
graduate (with highest honors I might humbly add to make a point), bride, wife, teacher, mother,
speaker, grandmother, author, and on goes the list.
My most valuable hats, however, are not the hats of achievement,
profession, or title. My favorite, most treasured hats of all, by far, are my RELATIONSHIP
hats, which call for me to be dressed to the nines, wearing my most attractive
love, time, patience, energy, and pleasant disposition accessories!
Are your hats in the proper order? Or has life
switched the price tags?
“So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy

compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one
another, and forgiving each other…Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.” Colossians
3:12-13 NASB
