Crystal Clear View of the Coosa River from our cabin

"We know only a portion of the truth; and what we say about God is always incomplete. But when the Complete arrives, our incompletes will be canceled...We don't yet see things clearly. We're squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won't be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We'll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing Him directly just as He knows us! But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love." (1 Cor. 13:9-13 The Message)

Last spring, the older grands and I were playing the build-a-story game...

My turn: "Out of the fog, a ferry came slowly across the river."

My granddaughter's turn: "And the fairy met a handsome prince. They got married and lived happily ever after! THE END."

Every now and then, our conversations with Jesus are dangerously like a build-a-story game. Although God speaks crystal clear promises through His Word; because of strong desires of our own hearts, we sometimes believe what we've only imagined Him to say.

Beloved, if something God "said" never comes true, then simply file it away under "imaginations" and trust unswervingly in who God is and His crystal clear promises of forgiven sin, unconditional love, and eternal life through the shed blood and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord!
