Bible study girls

"Oh, the joys of those who...delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit in season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do." (Psalm 1:1-3)

Last week, I asked my small group girls (young women in their 20s look like little girls from my point of view), "In your spiritual life, where would you like to grow this semester?"

Their most common answers were read the Bible more and hear God.

This morning, I heard Pastor Chip Ingram on Christian radio teach that the key to studying the Bible [and hearing God] is to ask three questions:
  1. What does the Bible say?
  2. What does the Bible mean?
  3. What does the Bible mean for my life?
Pastor Ingram went on to explain that God's word is for all people - not just the super intelligent or theologically astute. The Bible speaks God's simple truths to common man - and woman and child.

Want to hear God, beloved? Read the Bible. Everyday. Ask, "Lord Jesus, what does this mean, and what does this mean for my life?"
