My children, 1985

“Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.'” (John 3:3)

This picture was taken the day baby brother came home from the hospital in November of 1985. I adore the loving expressions on big sister and big brother’s little faces as they welcome the newest addition to our family.
Today at Bible study, a young mother carrying her sleeping tot quietly slipped into the room and sat down as our group closed in prayer. When asked if she had ever received God’s free gift of everlasting life and salvation from the condemnation of her sins, she told us no but that she would like to.
She then prayed, and God answered.

Scripture promises that whoever believes in Jesus will not be disappointed, and whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved (Rom. 10:11,13). Immediately, this lovely lady became a new creature; the old things passed away and she was spiritually born again as a new creation in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17). No extraordinary sights or sounds erupted but have no doubt, there was great rejoicing in heaven over this one sinner who changed directions (Luke 15)!
In Jesus, she now has redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of her trespasses, according to the riches of His grace (Eph. 1:7). For by grace, she has been saved through faith, and that not of herself, it is the gift of God: not the result of works (Eph. 2:8-9). Jesus Christ has said Himself that He will never desert her, nor will He ever forsake her. Because He is her Helper, she need never be afraid (Heb. 13:5-6).
Welcome to the family, Fannie!
Are you in God’s family?

“If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Rom. 10:9)
