Mobile Bay

"Next Paul and Silas traveled through the area of Phrygia and Galatia, because the Holy Spirit had prevented them from preaching the word in the province of Asia at that time." (Acts 16:1)

I've intended for two weeks to get with a young friend in downtown Birmingham for Bible study but different things keep preventing our meeting.

In the book of Acts, the Apostle Paul intended to minister in Asia,  probably Ephesus according to the Moody Bible Commentary, but the Holy Spirit prevented him and his companions from entering Asia. Paul then turned north, but again the Spirit of Jesus prevented him from entering Bithynia. In a vision at Troas, the Spirit summonsed Paul to Macedonia. This vision marked a major turning point in the history of the church. Paul's obedience to God's directions caused the gospel to move westward—thus bridging two continents, Asia and Europe, and positioning the new faith to become universal.

Discouraged over interrupted plans, beloved? Take heart! Stay alert! God's Holy Spirit may be reordering your steps according to His plans and good pleasure. Trust and obey.
