Shout, Children

Our grandboys, granddog, and son, Dan
(last Saturday at the Coosa River farm)

"They asked Jesus, 'Do you hear what these children are saying?'" (Matt. 21:16)

A painting of the last supper that Dan sent me from the sands of Iraq hangs in our playroom over the verse he tattooed on his arm as a U.S. Marine.

Ask any one of the grands who is in that picture and, without hesitation or doubt, they shout, "Jesus!"

After Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a palm-paved road, He entered the Temple, drove out all the people buying and selling animals for sacrifice, and then healed the blind and the lame. The leading priests and teachers of religious law saw His wondrous miracles and heard children shouting, "Praise God for the Son of David!"

In anger, the leaders asked Jesus, "Do you hear what these children are saying?"

"Yes," Jesus replied. "Haven't you heard the Scriptures: 'You have taught children and infants to give You praise.'" (Psalm 8:2)

Earlier He said, "If they keep silent, the rocks will cry out!" (Luke 19:40)

Shout with joy to the LORD, O children of God!
Worship Him with gladness.
Come before Him, singing with joy.
Acknowledge that the LORD [Jesus] is God!
He made us, and we are His.
We are His people, the sheep of His pasture.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving;
Go into His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him and praise His name.
For the LORD is good
His unfailing love continues forever,
and His faithfulness continues to each generation!
(Psalm 100)
